I had the pleasure of photographing Lifesong Studio’s most recent theatre endeavor Word On The Street.
It is an amazing modern-day telling of the Christmas story. Truly truly amazing. The dancing and singing were both outstanding. I can’t say that I was surprised, after all, this is my cousin’s studio
Who knew Joseph (of Joseph & Mary) had an incredible voice?!
All is well, until Mary gets a visit from an angel. I had never thought about the strain that this news must have put on Joseph & Mary’s relationship. I remember learning that Joseph agreed to Mary her in private and keep it quiet, but this play helped me to see deeper into the reality of what happened. It also reminded me that God uses regular, ordinary people to do extraordinary things. You may never feel fully adequate to do the things set in front of you, but God will always be with you and give you the strength, you need only to believe.
This dance was so well done. I would even go as far as to say that it reminded me of the now famous Bleeding Love dance from “So You Think You Can Dance.”
I would encourage everyone to go. The dinner theatre will be showing Dec 4-6 & Dec 11-12

About Word On The Street from Lifesong’s website: “We all know the story of the baby Jesus’ arrival. We know it very well. So, how is this story told in a new way? WORD ON THE STREET focuses on the couple: Mary and Joseph. Believing this was a couple that loved each other and loved God, WORD ON THE STREET becomes a love story functioning horizontally – between the couple, and vertically – their love for God. Set in an urban environment that embodies every city everywhere with people from all walks of life, WORD ON THE STREET is a contemporary musical set in a present day world.”
