*First let me point out that the above wedding post will remain “sticky” for a while so that this doesn’t completely turn into my personal blog during the next month or so of only shooting myself and my baby.*

I am 38 1/2 weeks right now which is really insane. We decided on our sweet baby’s name a while ago but after you have not had a name for so long it’s hard to announce it. We were planning on waiting to announce it with the baby announcements, but the truth is when he is born I’m not sure there will be any stopping the facebook/instagram picture sharing mayhem that is sure to ensue (I’m thinking particularly of my mother with this statement). So we would love to share with you are sweet little boy’s name now so we can be the ones sharing instead of a facebook status or post.

First, a belly shot. (Taken at 38 weeks exactly)

We had 4 top names from about the time that we found out our baby was a boy. We ended up using one of those names as his first and the other as his middle name, his last name was pretty easy to figure out. The result of which is: River Jonas Leverenz.

River means an abundant stream or copious flow. Not only is it pretty much the coolest name I have ever heard, but it also holds so much meaning for Dan and I. As we prayed and reflected on what we felt like the Lord wanted for our baby boy, we repeatedly heard that he would be a stream of peace, one who brings abundant  joy and happiness. What better vehicle than a River to bring such things?

His middle name Jonas means Dove, Peace, Gift From God. We originally liked this name because it is from the book “The Giver”. Jonas is the boy who can see colors. It is a beautiful book and we thought also a beautiful name. Once we looked up the meaning on the name we were pretty much sold. We went back and forth between which would be his first and which his middle, but repeatedly in our conversations we started referring to him as River, and now it has stuck.

Anyone that asks now (new friends in Corpus, random people at the gas station etc…) we gladly tell them his name so we thought it only fair that everyone else know as well! We have indeed enjoyed all of the other names people have come up with for our baby… to name just a few that we have heard circulating: Kumquat, Michael Sue, Henry Lane, Baby L… but I think we’ll stick with River from now on.

It’s so crazy to think that he is just chillin’ in there. At my last appointment it was estimated that he is between 7-8 pounds. When we found out I was already dilated and effaced at 36 weeks I was really expecting him to be here by now, but I’ve been thankful for the extra time. I was able to finish up his room and get a few things wrapped up. I’m not sure you are ever really “ready”, but I think Dan and I are as ready as we can be. At this point we are more excited than we are nervous, so come on River, we can’t wait to meet you!

I love my little River Jonas! Come, splash your JOY all over us.

    Psalm 46:4 (The Message)
River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city,
this sacred haunt of the Most High.

You know your mother VERY well!!!!

I’m reminded of the Hymn “Like a River Glorious” of which the first verse and chorus is:

Like a river glorious is God’s perfect peace,
    Over all victorious, in its bright increase;
Perfect, yet it floweth fuller every day,
Perfect, yet it groweth deeper all the way.
    Refrain:
Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest
Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

My heart is already being blessed by River Jonas. Love to you all (Layla and Clem too, of course!)

River, you’re already making Aunt Milly cry…like a river. Who’s the baby now? Sweet source of peace and joy, I’m so thankful for you. Our Jesus is good.
