The White Stripe’s song is ringing loud in my head as the cool air floods through Fort Worth, TX. With a high yesterday of 74 and a low in the 50′s, who could bare to stay inside? It is currently 64 degrees outside, I keep going outside just to check every few minutes. Yesterday was a magical day full of frolicking, playing, rolling around, smiling and discovering. Yes, the coolness of outside has reminded me of what it is like to “play”. Yesterday as we were in the backyard playing with the dogs, my mom discovered our first acorn of the fall season. This means, fall is really here! The rumors are true!

You might think I am exaggerating, thinking a pair of “grown-ups” could not possibly mean “play” in the same ways as a child would. I know some of you are thinking, by “frolic” does she mean skip around during television commercials? Oh, no no no, let me assure you that we Leverenz’s know how to play.

Yes, indeed, that is Dan hitting a Koosh ball off the of the roof. We weren’t originally intending to play off the roof, but with one over-zealous swing from me, we changed that! After we had done all we could in our backyard, we moved on to the park and then to the nature area. And wouldn’t you know we played with the champion of all playing/the most awesome 2 year old ever!
Lakoda is ambidextrous. It’s amazing, he throws and hits with both hands, (hits: meaning baseball bat to T-ball), and he’s GOOD. I had a dream two nights ago that I was still playing softball and I was an AMAZING pitcher. After a few pitches with dan, I must admit, I think it was indeed just a dream… I will however be looking for a softball league to join, but I think I will go with slow pitch this go around!
The most amazing part of yesterday’s fall beautifulness, was that it wasn’t just us outside, EVERYONE was outside. Or, at least, it seemed like it. It was so fun to see people all over the parks and even in the middle of the streets playing catch, tag, whatever.. We have been trapped inside too long in the crazy 100+ degree heat. It’s so nice to be released from prison every now and then. It was also such a good day for my spirit. It was full of fun and freedom, something I haven’t felt in a while.
One last note. I know I make up a lot of words and have crazy grammar. Please forgive me. When Dan is home he proof-reads things before I post, but if he’s at work, they gone on the internet with no filter. But hey, there is grace, right? On that note, thank you to Rizzo, the sandwich dude at Central Market for allowing me to say the word “pronounce-e-ate-tion” without correction yesterday. I appreciate your willingness to embrace new words.
