Before you meet Elijah, you must first meet his big sister, Sophia.

Sophia spent a few minutes staring at me blankly. I wouldn’t say that she was being overly protective of Eli, she just wanted to check me out. I didn’t mind at all, look at her gorgeous big blue eyes–who could resist?!

Here he is, the man of the hour. Elijah’s grandmother and great-grandmother were both at the house when I went to photograph Elijah. There is something so sweet about great-grandparent’s hands. I think it is the generations of love that they have given out.

Elijah slept through most of his session. At least at the beginning…

I do not claim to be a newborn pro photographer. In fact, this is only the fifth newborn I have photographed and the first boy newborn! I am still learning quite a bit about newborns. I really enjoy being around the babies, but I am still learning that they do not always go into the positions that you want them to go into. These last two pictures make me laugh out loud. It was near the end of our session and if was if Elijah was actually saying, “Are you serious? You put me in a basket? Are we quite finished here, I could use some alone time. Thanks.”

Oh Elijah, thank you for your patience with me. I know I am still learning and you were a gracious host. Thank you for letting me visit with you!

I love all these pictures and props…so wonderful! but the third to last pic is my favorite. It’s like he’s just looking out, trying to take the whole world in like, “Oh, I’m finally here…so this is earth…”
